Sorcha flies the flag for female HGV drivers

0

Only two per cent of HGV (C & CE) driving licences are issued to women in Ireland. However, this cohort is growing on the back of the continued success of the Transport Operations & Commercial Driving Apprenticeship.

Sorcha Halpin is the latest recruit to passing her driving test as part of the Transport Operations & Commercial Driving Apprenticeship.

Aidan Flynn, chief executive of FTA Ireland commented: “What a fabulous ambassador Sorcha Halpin is for the Transport Operations & Commercial Driving Apprenticeship . Sorcha his now part of an elite group that will continue to grow.

He continued: “20 per cent of the Transport Operations & Commercial Driving Apprenticeship class are women which is fantastic.”

Continued success to Sorcha. Also special mention to DPD Ireland for their support of  apprenticeships. Without employers they will not work.

More information on the commercial driving apprenticeship (first of its kind in Europe!) can be found here www.cdap.ie
