The Irish Road Haulage Association (IRHA) has welcomed the Government’s decision last Friday evening to postpone the reintroduction of excise duty, which had been due to come back into effect on 1st September.

The IRHA says there is no doubt that this decision is a direct result of the strong lobbying, engagement and meetings with Government TDs and Ministers led by IRHA President, Ger Hyland, and the IRHA management team.

“This is a great result for our members and for the Irish road haulage industry, which continues to face significant cost pressures.” Ger Hyland said.

“We will continue to make the case for our members and work constructively with Government to ensure the challenges facing the transport sector remain firmly on the agenda.”
