Welcome to HGV Ireland..

ADAS is changing the HGV Workshop

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are becoming standard on modern HGVs – and they are creating a new challenge for Ireland’s commercial vehicle workshops.

A repair that once ended with fitting a replacement part may now require diagnostics, calibration and verification.

Cameras, radar and sensors can be affected by seemingly minor work, including bumper repairs, windscreen replacement, suspension work and wheel alignment.

That means workshops need the right equipment, specialist knowledge and trained technicians to ensure ADAS systems are working correctly before a vehicle returns to the road.

For independent HGV workshops, the investment can be significant. Specialist calibration equipment, diagnostic tools and technician training all come at a cost.

But there is also an opportunity.

As ADAS becomes more widespread, workshops with the expertise and equipment to diagnose and calibrate these systems can gain a valuable competitive advantage.
