Sustainability may be in the title, but FTA Ireland’s Sustainable Transport Seminar 2026 will go far beyond decarbonisation.
“The transport and logistics sector is facing challenges on multiple fronts. Rising operating costs, increasing regulation, digitalisation, driver recruitment and retention, insurance, road safety and compliance are all demanding greater attention from transport operators and fleet managers,” CEO FTA Ireland, Niall Cotton said.
He added: “That wider industry picture will be firmly reflected in this year’s seminar, taking place on Wednesday, 16 September at The Johnstown Estate, Enfield, Co. Meath.”
He continued: “The programme will bring together industry, government and transport professionals to examine many of the issues shaping the day-to-day operation – and future direction – of Ireland’s transport sector.”
Among the key topics will be:
• The launch of the Managers Guide to Distribution Costs Report 2026, providing important insight into the changing cost base facing operators
• Digitalisation and compliance, including VISION and the electronic Freight Transport Information (eFTI) Regulation
• Decarbonisation in practice, with a new sector report and real-world transition case studies
• Insurance and operational standards, including recognition of FTA Ireland standards and support for younger drivers
• Driver fatigue, wellbeing and road safety
• Industry perspectives from the Road Safety Authority and An Garda Síochána
• A keynote address from Minister Seán Canney TD
Just as importantly, the seminar will provide an opportunity for operators, fleet managers and other industry professionals to meet, network and exchange views on the challenges facing the sector.
With Colm O’Regan chairing proceedings, the event promises a practical and wide-ranging examination of Irish transport operations – covering costs, compliance, technology, safety, people, operational efficiency and sustainability.
So, while sustainable transport remains an important part of the conversation, this is very much a seminar about the wider future of the transport and logistics industry in Ireland.
Whether you work in fleet management, transport operations, compliance, finance, safety or sustainability, the programme will have something relevant to your business.
