FTA Irel;and is calling for a balanaced policy approach from government, as fuel prices to continue to spiral.

Ireland’s transport and logistics sector remains heavily dependent on fuel to keep goods and services moving across the economy.

“Operators are facing a growing cost challenge as the Government considers the phased restoration of fuel excise reductions from September, while carbon tax increases continue under the legislated pathway to 2030,” FTA Ireland CEO, Niall Cotton said.

These measures come at a time when fuel markets remain vulnerable to geopolitical uncertainty and price volatility.

He added: “FTA Ireland supports climate objectives, but policymakers must also recognise the operational realities facing transport businesses. Ireland needs a balanced approach that advances sustainability while protecting competitiveness, resilient supply chains, and the viability of the sector that keeps the economy moving.”
