Diesel prices rise as Government increases excise duty

0

The cost of road diesel is increasing by five cent a litre from Friday 1st September, much to the annoyance of haulage operators.

The Government reduced excise duties on diesel by 16 cent per litre in March 2022, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine caused a spike in fuel prices.

In June this year, the Government added five centre a litre to the cost of road diesel and is set to add another six cent per litre in October, which will fully restore the March 2022 reduction.
