CameraMatics has become sole supplier of connected fleet safety and visibility systems to commercial vehicles operating within the Irish arm of Briggs Group, following the consolidation of several fleets owned by the business.
Now fitted to close to 100 light commercial vehicles and trucks across Briggs Transport, Briggs Equipment and Balloo Hire, CameraMatics provides real-time video access, multi-camera visibility, driver behaviour insights, compliance workflows and digital incident evidence through a single connected platform.
Gary Barnes, National Transport Manager for Briggs Equipment Ireland, says: “We’ve been working with CameraMatics since 2022 and have now rolled its systems out across every vehicle we operate in Ireland, giving us the ability to monitor our fleets in real-time and interact directly with drivers to prevent accidents – it’s been a game changer for us.
“Previously, we were relying on basic cameras and SD cards, trawling through hours of footage to find what we needed – if the recordings had even worked at all. It was laborious, time-consuming and a costly waste of employee resources. When CameraMatics showcased the ability to instantly access a vehicle’s live camera feed as well as being able to track back through recordings online, we were sold.”
Depending on the vehicle type, CameraMatics has installed up to six external cameras, providing expandable 360° visibility around each vehicle, unlocking innovative features like blind spot monitoring and advanced driver analysis. The system captures safety-critical events such as speeding, harsh braking and severe steering inputs, allowing fleet managers to understand the context behind incidents, using real-world footage to support targeted coaching and driver training to improve performance and safety.
Through its intuitive cloud-based dashboard, Briggs’ Fleet Managers can access a wealth of information, with the ability to view both live and historical video, driver behaviour data and incident evidence, helping to support compliance management and any associated investigations or insurance claims.
“The ability to see what’s happening with any of our vehicles directly from my desk allows me to quickly understand and manage any problems should they arise. The system also provides our drivers with a wealth of tools if they are ever involved in an incident, giving both us and them genuine peace of mind,” adds Barnes.
Every Briggs driver in Ireland also benefits from CameraMatics’ dedicated Safe Driver app, helping reduce paperwork, strengthen compliance processes and ensure vehicle issues are captured, evidenced and escalated quickly. In the event of an incident, the app also guides drivers through a full accident management process, enabling them to capture and upload photographic evidence, triggering immediate notifications to support faster claims handling to minimise risk and exposure for the business.
As the platform has become more established across the Briggs fleet, CameraMatics has also worked closely with the team to explore additional functionality and features. This includes adding the ability to stream video from a specific time and camera, without the need to download the footage first.
“It’s refreshing to partner with a business that isn’t afraid to invest in its own systems, working with customers to make improvements based on their feedback. The CameraMatics team is genuinely engaged with us, and they go above and beyond to ensure we get the most out of the systems we have in place,” concludes Barnes.
Briggs Group’s commercial vehicle fleet in Ireland is comprised of 40 trucks and vans operating under the Briggs Transport umbrella, alongside five rigid trucks used by Briggs Equipment and 50 vehicles for affiliated plant and tool specialist, Balloo Hire.
