Thermo King’s AxlePower refrigeration unit comng to Irish roads

Thermo King’s AxlePower refrigeration unit, developed in partnership with BPW to generate electricity during the journey is coming to Irish roads in the coming weeks.

Irish distributor, Ballinlough Refrigeration is bringing an AxlePower demo unit to Irish roads, an A500-e dual temperature trailer.

The trailer features a BPW ePower Axle, which harvests kinetic energy from braking and downhill running, stores it, and uses it to power the refrigeration unit in real time.

No diesel. No grid connection. No charging infrastructure needed. Just clean energy from the road paired with the proven efficiency of an Advancer unit.

It’s specified on new build trailers, operates just like the Advancer unit and BlueBox Telematics gives you live data and full visibility on every run.

Zero direct emissions
Eliminates the TRU diesel cost entirely
No depot charging infrastructure needed but still capable of running on shore power or ferry plug in if required
Tried and tested for Irish operations

The range anxiety question doesn’t apply here the way it does for battery-only systems because the energy source is the journey itself.

And the Advancer-e unit at the heart of this system? Proudly manufactured at Thermo King’s carbon-neutral certified facility in Galway, Ireland. At a time when diesel costs continue to rise and margins are tighter than ever, eliminating thousands of litres of diesel per trailer per year isn’t just good for the environment, it’s good for business.
