Fuel protests are continuing across the country for a second day, as organizers call for a meeting with government to discuss their concerns at spiraling fuel prices.
Public transport was severely hampered in the Capital on Wednesday morning. Multiple vehicles were left overnight on roads in Dublin city centre and protests resumed this morning, with protesters blocking both O’Connell Bridge and the North and South Quays.
Meanwhile, fuel depots in Galway and Limerick have been blocked sparking fears that some forecourts could run out of fuel today.
RTE.ie is reporting significant delays at junctions 6 and 9 on the M8 in Tipperary and Galway Docks in Galway city, while protesters stayed on the M7 outside Limerick overnight. Around 80 vehicles took part and the drivers of those that left plan to return this morning. Diversions are in place.
Gardaí were also anticipating possible road blocks to Dublin Airport and the Port Tunnel.
