Minister of State in the Department of Transport with responsibility for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports, Sean Canney has welcomed the launch of the Road Transporters Support Scheme to support hauliers, ‘own account’ operators and bus and coach services right across the country.

“These are the people who keep Ireland moving every day – keeping supply chains going, supporting jobs and connecting communities,” Minister Canney said.

He added: “This scheme is about recognising that role and stepping in with practical support at a time when rising fuel costs are putting real pressure on the sector, with a structure that provides proportionately more support to smaller operators.”

Minister Canney also strongly welcomed the €100 million Fuel Support Scheme for farmers, agricultural contractors and fishers – a targeted measure based on fuel usage that will provide real support where it’s needed most.

Applications for both schemes are expected to open in May
