The Irish Road Haulage Association is calling for toll-free travel on the M50 motorway in Dublin for all licensed hauliers.
Speaking on the Roadway Ireland Podcast, IRHA President Ger Hyland, says the Association met with government officials before Christmas with a list of demands, to alleviate spiralling costs.
“The number one on the list is the M 50 to be free to the licensed haulage sector. That is within the government’s remit,” Hyland said.
“They have contracts in place with the other toll roads. They are telling us that they can’t be interfered with, or they can’t interfere with them, or they could face huge fines. That’s fine, we’ll take that at face value.”
“ But they own the M 50, so tomorrow morning, they could give our members free access.”
