The Irish Road Haulage Association (IRHA) has advised operators that the Road Transporters Support Scheme (RTSS) appeals portal is now open, with appeals due by 12 noon on Wednesday, 4 November 2026.
According to the association, the appeals process is available to operators whose applications were refused or who did not receive support for one or more vehicles included in their original application.
Operators who received payment for all vehicles included in their original application are not eligible to appeal.
The IRHA has outlined four grounds on which an appeal may be submitted:
-
Eligibility criteria failures.
-
Multiple Road Transport Operator Licences.
-
Incorrect or incomplete financial information.
-
State Aid and Single Entity issues.
Applicants must have a valid RTSS Application ID and provide supporting evidence relevant to their appeal. The Department of Transport will contact affected applicants directly by email.
The IRHA is encouraging affected operators to review the appeal criteria and submit their applications well ahead of the deadline.
- Every key deadline: diesel rebate, fuel excise, carbon tax
- Tick-box checklist for tacho, CVRT, CPC & operator licence
- Where drivers get caught at RSA roadside checks
Operators preparing an appeal should check the grounds relevant to their case and ensure that the necessary supporting documentation is included with their submission.
The association has also advised members who need assistance with the process, or clarification on their eligibility to appeal, to contact the IRHA office.
Members can email info@irha.ie or telephone +353 (0)1 801 3380 for assistance.
The appeals portal closes at 12 noon on 4 November, and affected operators should allow sufficient time to prepare and submit their appeal.
