AIB supports Irish haulage at IRHA Conference

AIB has reaffirmed its support for Ireland’s road haulage industry following the Irish Road Haulage Association’s 53rd Annual Conference in Killarney.

Members of the AIB team attended the two-day event at the Gleneagle Hotel, where they met customers and representatives from haulage and transport businesses throughout Ireland.

In a post on LinkedIn, AIB highlighted the importance of supporting the sector and engaging directly with operators about the opportunities and challenges facing their businesses.

The IRHA Conference is one of the most important annual gatherings for Ireland’s licensed road haulage industry, bringing together operators, suppliers, financial institutions, policymakers and other key stakeholders.

This year’s conference took place against a particularly challenging backdrop for transport companies, with fuel costs, regulatory pressures, driver shortages, fleet investment and the transition towards lower-emission vehicles among the issues confronting operators.

Access to appropriate finance is becoming increasingly important as hauliers seek to replace vehicles, upgrade trailers and equipment, improve efficiency and invest in new technologies.

AIB Finance & Leasing has a longstanding relationship with the Irish transport industry and has regularly supported the IRHA Annual Conference. The bank provides a range of asset-finance options for commercial vehicles, trailers and other business equipment, subject to its normal lending terms and criteria.

The conference also provided the AIB team with an opportunity to hear directly from hauliers about current trading conditions and the financial pressures affecting the industry.

The IRHA was established in 1973 and represents Ireland’s licensed road haulage operators at national and European level. It works with Government departments and other stakeholders on issues including operating costs, road safety, regulation, sustainability and the competitiveness of the Irish transport sector.

AIB described its involvement in the Killarney conference as another opportunity to support its customers and strengthen its relationship with one of the most important sectors of the Irish economy.
