Hauliers and road transport operators who have been asked to provide additional information under the Road Transporters Support Scheme (RTSS) have been given more time to update their applications – but the deadline is now absolute.

The Department of Transport has confirmed that affected applicants have until 12 noon on Monday, 7 September 2026 to submit the additional information requested.

A large number of RTSS applications were submitted with incomplete or incorrect information, prompting the Department to establish two dedicated web portals through which affected operators can correct their details.

The original deadline has now been extended because of the number of applicants affected and the high volume of queries being received.

However, operators are being warned not to miss the new cut-off.

The portals will close at 12pm sharp on Monday, 7 September, and applications that have not been updated with the required information will be rejected.

Affected applicants have been contacted directly by email by the Department. The correspondence contains a unique link to the relevant portal, which cannot be shared or used by another applicant.

Operators who received two emails are being advised to read both carefully and complete all actions requested.

Importantly, if you have not received an email from the Department, you do not need to take any action.

Once the portals close, the Department says updated applications will be processed as quickly as possible, with the information supplied checked against official records to determine eligibility.

Operators should also be aware that payments could be delayed – or may not be made – where claims include vehicles that fail to meet all of the RTSS eligibility criteria.

Because of the volume of applications, the Department says it is unable to provide individual application status updates.

If you have received an RTSS email from the Department, do not leave it until Monday morning. Check the correspondence, follow the unique link supplied and make sure all requested information is submitted well ahead of the 12 noon deadline on 7 September.

No update, no payment: applications with outstanding information after the deadline will be rejected.
