Drivers are advised to take a break at least every two hours and to stop for 15 minutes if feeling tired. While caffeine can help improve alertness, it is important to note that it takes approximately 15 minutes to take effect
As part of the RSA’s #StopSipSleep initiative, motorists can call into Applegreen and avail of a free coffee by saying RSA at the till, from 2pm to 8pm on Friday and Monday.
Taking the time to rest can make a critical difference in helping ensure safer journeys.
