Circle K, one of Ireland’s leading forecourt and convenience retailers, has confirmed that Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel is now available for all diesel drivers at selected forecourts.
Until now, milesBIO HVO100 was primarily available to Circle K’s business customers and used in the company’s own fleet of delivery vehicles.
This move marks an important step in Circle K’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to lower-emission fuel options. milesBIO HVO100 is now available to all diesel drivers on forecourts at eight Circle K locations nationwide including Parkway West in Dublin and at key locations across Ireland’s national routeways: City Avenue, City North (M1), Cashel (Junction 8, M8), Fermoy (Junction 14, M8), Kill North, Kill South and N4 East (Mullingar).
With the addition of these eight new sites to its existing network of milesBIO HVO100 refuelling locations for business customers, Circle K now has 30 forecourts offering HVO, making it Ireland’s largest HVO refuelling network.
Over the next year, Circle K plans to roll out the fuel to even more of its sites, giving more drivers the opportunity to choose a cleaner alternative to regular diesel.
milesBIO HVO100 is a renewable biofuel made from waste materials and by-products from the food industry. It allows diesel vehicles to significantly cut their carbon emissions, by up to 90% compared to conventional diesel, without needing any changes to the engine. The fuel is ISCC-certified and completely fossil-free.
At each of these eight locations, pumps offering milesBIO HVO100 is clearly marked with unique branding and features distinctive grey nozzles to help drivers easily identify them from petrol or standard diesel options.
The eight new forecourts offering HVO to all diesel drivers comes following an announcement in April that Circle K is to supply Irish Ferries with HVO for its Dublin Swift crossing from Dublin to Holyhead in 2025, promoting more sustainable sea travel.
Jonathan Diver, Senior Fuel Director at Circle K, said: “We’re proud to make milesBIO HVO100 available to even more diesel drivers at Circle K. The addition of these eight new sites marks a major milestone in our journey towards more sustainable mobility in Ireland. With milesBIO HVO100 now available at 30 locations nationwide, Circle K operates the largest HVO refuelling network in the country. Today’s announcement marks a significant step in making low-emission fuel solutions more accessible to the public and supporting motorists who want to reduce their environmental impact.
“Since first introducing milesBIO HVO100 to the Irish market in 2022 for our own fleet and business customers, we’ve witnessed first-hand the positive effect this renewable diesel alternative can have on reducing emissions. By extending its availability, we’re not only broadening choice at the pump but also reaffirming our commitment to a greener future. We’re excited to build on this momentum and look forward to expanding the rollout of milesBIO HVO100 to even more locations across Ireland in the months ahead.”
milesBIO HVO100 is already used by Circle K’s business customers, including Alltrans and FreightSpeed. These businesses are already seeing considerable carbon savings across their operations.
The move aligns with Circle K’s long-term sustainability strategy and supports the Irish Government’s ambition to reduce transport emissions by 50% by 2030.
