A Ukrainian woman trying to get to Ireland to join her daughter in Leitrim has called on the Irish haulage industry for help.
The woman’s plight was brought to the attention of HGVIreland.com this week by a driver who recently returned from Przemysl on the Polish / Ukrainian border.
“We are trying to help a Ukrainian woman living in Leitrim to get her mother to Ireland. The woman can make it to Lvyv, but cannot fly,” Padraig Kavanagh of the Kilkenny Chernobyl Group, told HGVIreland.com.
Padraig is anxious to make contact with a truck driver called Tommy, who was part of the Aid from Ireland convoy who was in Przemysl at the same time.
“We met outside the Tesco warehouse refugee centre and I had just delivered an ambulance load there and he was waiting to pick up another truck load to bring to Lviv.”
“He said he was from Enniskillen. He gave me his number but I lost it. If possible it would be good to contact Tommy on the ground and see if he had any advice or contacts to help this woman get to Ireland.
