Transport Minister, Hildegarde Naughton has re-affirmed the government’s commitment to the freight and distribution sector, while attending FTA Ireland’s Transport Manager Seminar, at the Johnstown estate, Enfield, Co. Meath, today, Wednesday.

Minister of State Hildegarde Naughton said: “I am delighted to be here at FTAI’s 10th Transport Manager Seminar. After a few difficult years for all, it’s great to see this event back and in person. This Seminar is a very important event for the freight and logistics sector in Ireland, and I would like to acknowledge the work of FTAI over more than 10 years to promote proficiency and professionalism in the industry. Today’s focus is on transport managers, who must possess a comprehensive skillset including knowledge of transport regulation, business acumen, IT skills and organisational ability.
“It was wonderful to hear from the array of expert speakers on topics which are of current relevance, in particular safety and sustainability, and to meet representatives of the freight and logistics industry to hear their views.”
Chief Executive at FTA Ireland, Aidan Flynn, comments: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to hear from Minister of State, Hildegarde Naughton, at our Transport Manager Seminar today. There have been many challenges within logistics in recent years, including Covid-19 and Brexit. Now, as we face a new economic challenge, Ms Naughton’s speech – particularly the reference to prioritising work on the 10-year haulage strategy – will bring reassurance to many involved in the sector, who will value the high importance the minister has placed on industry here today.”
The hugely popular seminar also covered key topics within industry, such as decarbonisation, road safety and flexible strategic planning – which must be prioritised to aid preparation for a future that will deliver on climate change obligations and protect the viability of businesses – and included an expert speaker line-up from across the sector.
