Dublin and Rosslare ports are to get additional inspection bays and parking spaces to ease congestion under new No-Brexit contingency plans unveiled on Thursday.
The Government plans to have 33 inspection bays for trucks coming off ships, with parking for 270 trucks to ease congestion, while at Rosslare, 13 inspection bays with parking for 35 trucks are planned.
A dedicated border control post for animals is needed at both ports.
The plan says that imports from the UK will be treated as being from a third country, and goods leaving to the UK will be treated as exports. All relevant EU legislation on imported goods and exported goods will apply.
