The Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) is calling for reform, in consultation with the motor industry and other key stakeholders, of the format of the current registration plate system.
SIMI says the current system produces an extreme form of seasonality in car sales which damages the industry, government tax revenues and does not benefit the consumer.
