The International Road Transport Union (IRU) in conjunction with the Federal Association of Belgium Coach Operators (FBAA), recently held a round table on “CPC Driver training.
Representatives from the road transport sector, as well shippers, drivers, EU Commission officials, training professionals from certification bodies and professional associations participated in this interactive debate.
They concluded that, in the long run, the EU Directive is a blessing for the profession to help further the key objectives of increased professionalism, road safety and environmental protection.
However, several aspects, such as the lack of harmonisation in implementing the directive between EU Member States, create a two-speed access situation to the profession.
