Continental Tyre Group has added a new member to its commercial vehicle sales team – 45 year-old Duncan Platt, who joins with immediate effect as General Sales Manager – Truck tyre.
Duncan has more than 24 years experience in the tyre industry in a variety of sales and management roles, including most recently working with Bridgestone on its pan European regional and national fleet accounts.
“This is a very exciting opportunity for me,” said Platt, “I’m really looking forward to the challenge of working across all the tyre brands but especially to working with customers to enhance their fuel savings with the benefits of Continental’s fantastic product range and services.”
As part of his new role, Duncan will be responsible for overseeing sales of the Continental, ContiRe, Semperit, Uniroyal and Barum brands in both the UK and Ireland as well as liaising with key account customers in both markets.
Arthur Gregg, Sales and Marketing Director – Commercial, welcomed Duncan on board and commented: “The General Sales Manager role is an extremely important one within the Commercial Vehicle Business Unit. Duncan’s previous experience and knowledge of the industry will be of great help to customers but also when coordinating with our Network Partners”.
Duncan is married with two children and currently lives in St Helens where he was born and raised. He is a keen sportsman and was previously a semi professional rugby player with Widnes and Oldham.
