Urban driving pocket guide published

March 9, 2010

Freight Best Practice Scotland has published a new free Urban Driving Guide, which gives best practice advice on how to plan for more efficient and safer journeys within urban areas.

The Pocket Guide is specifically designed for drivers and gives tips, guidance and facts to help minimise delays, improve safety, as well as saving fuel and therefore money.

Driving through built up areas will often involve negotiating unfamiliar traffic lanes, junctions and restrictions. This Pocket Guide outlines steps to help drivers ensure their own safety and that of other road users.

It offers advice to drivers on what they should look out for while driving in an urban area including:

* Selecting the most appropriate route choice

* Interpreting loading and parking restrictions

* Ensuring the vehicle is fit for purpose

Like all Freight Best Practice publications, the Urban Driving Guide is completely free of charge and can be obtained by either visiting www.freightbestpractice.org.uk/scotland or by calling the Hotline on 0845 877 0 877

This publication is available to operators in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
