New Mercedes-Benz Actros arrives in early March

February 22, 2012

Mercedes-Benz is putting the finishing touches to plans for the launch of new Actros, which arrives in early March. The new Actros will be presented at a market introduction event planned to take place in early March. Hauliers and owners are being invited by their local dealers to attend the event, which will include test-drive opportunities for those present.

Forming part of the event will be the creation of a ‘Downstream Village’ at which Actros-related ancillary products and services will be presented.

The much-heralded new Actros arrives on the Irish market having been acclaimed for its fuel economy in various tests. In the course of its seven years development, it has been subjected to rigorous testing designed to uphold the Mercedes-Benz ‘trucks you can trust’ claim. Trials ranged from practical every-day road tests to the heat of the Sierra Nevada and winter tests on the Arctic Circle.

The New Actros Range has been presented across Europe with the key message of ‘ Welcome to a New Dimension’. For those who look further into the details they will find that the New Dimension message extends to the Comfort, Driveability and Increased Profitability on offer from this fantastic new range.

Features include totally new cabs in a striking, yet typically Mercedes-Benz design, with aerodynamic refinements, an innovative lighting concept and external dimensions that confirm the spaciousness of the working, living and resting space provided for the driver.

The new Actros is powered by a new generation of Mercedes-Benz engines, available initially in four power output classes from 310 kW to 375 kW, with maximum torque from 2100 Nm to 2500 Nm.

Amongst its many plus points is the promise of five-digit fuel savings. Recently, it was confirmed as the most fuel-efficient truck of all times in a 10,000kms road test conducted under everyday conditions on roads between Poland and the Dutch city of Rotterdam.

Based on the results of this test drive, a truck that covers 120,000km per annum whilst using only 33 litres of fuel per 100km travelled can deliver savings of over €2,500 per annum at today’s prices. Scaled up over a five years life cycle and the saving could be as big as €12,500 or more, Mercedes-Benz claims.
